01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Manhattan at 371 W 34th St., Patiala Indian Grill offers an authentic slice of North Indian cuisine that truly captures the vibrant flavors and rich culinary traditions of India. This cozy, intimate restaurant specializes in expertly prepared grilled dishes and classic Indian fare that are both comforting and exhilarating to the palate.

From the moment you step inside, the warmth of the space pairs beautifully with the aromas wafting from the kitchen. Despite its smaller size, the restaurant’s inviting ambiance makes it a perfect spot for a relaxed date night or a casual gathering with friends who appreciate refined flavors in an unpretentious setting.

The menu is an explosion of textures and tastes, outstandingly crafted to please both meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Signature dishes such as the Paapdi Chaat and Dal Makhani have received heartfelt praise from patrons for their rich, soulful flavors—comfort food at its finest. The chicken biryani stands out as a culinary highlight, praised for its juicy, tender chicken perfectly balanced with fragrant, spiced rice, reminiscent of the authentic tastes found in Delhi’s bustling streets.

Complementing the savory offerings is an impressive beverage selection that elevates the dining experience even further. Whether you opt for the creamy, indulgent Shahi Sweet Lassi or the refreshingly tangy Fresh Lemonade, each drink feels crafted to harmonize with the bold spices and complex flavors on the plate. Guests especially rave about the variety of lassis available—Patiala Mango Lassi, Maharaja Salted Lassi, and the classic sweet take—all wonderfully creamy and perfectly chilled.

Service at Patiala Indian Grill is noted for its genuine warmth and attentiveness, enhancing the overall experience. While the restaurant’s intimate size means seats fill up quickly and service may occasionally adapt to a busy flow of takeout orders, the patience is richly rewarded with quality food that remains consistent and delicious.

For visitors exploring nearby attractions like The Edge or vibrant Times Square, Patiala Indian Grill provides a welcome oasis of authentic Indian cuisine just steps away. Whether dining in or treating yourself to a comforting meal to-go, the restaurant’s dedication to authentic taste and hospitality make it a standout choice in New York’s culinary landscape.

Amazing Tasty North Indian food! Couldn't stop eating! Especially Paapdi Chaat and Dal Makhani. They also gave us Complimentary Dal soup when we came in, and in winter cold, it was a breath of relief and warmth. The place is a little small, but the taste makes up for it by 10 times over. Good place for even Vegetarian people.

Amazing chicken biryani, one of the best in Manhattan. Tastes very similar to those I had when I was in Delhi. Juicy chicken and spicy, fragrant rice. Also, the server was super kind and courteous! Definitely recommend

This place is very close to The Edge and Times Square, making it a great spot if you’re around the area. The restaurant is small with only 4–5 tables, so seating is limited. They had a lot of to-go orders, and the in-house service was a little slow because of that. They serve authentic Indian food, and the ambiance is cozy and nice—perfect for a date night, especially if you enjoy small spaces with corner tables and candlelight vibes. We ordered: • Samosas • Paneer Kali Mirch • Langar Wali Dal • Lemon Rice • Chilli Cheese Garlic Naan • Butter Naan Everything was absolutely delicious with unique and fresh flavors. We really loved the food! Overall, a great place to visit, but we’ll definitely choose takeout next time due to the limited seating. Highly recommended for Indian food lovers!

This is one of best among all the restaurants, I have visited so far in New York. Though it’s higher side on pricing. Its location is very convenient. If you are roaming around Times Square, then no worries for authentic Indian food and drinks. Better you reserve a seat in advance. If you can not, then still okay. Wait time is not more than 15 minutes.

The menu is super diverse and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the shahi sweet lassi as a drink to anyone that likes creamy drinks. Try it instead of mango lassi! The lamb korma and vindaloo were my favorite. The zeera ghee rice is also an absolute must. The serving sizes were also plentiful. I recommend eating family style. The service was phenomenal. Food came out fast and the servers were all very attentive and caring. The music was fun too! Perfect for a cool day. Deserves a larger location and more attention!

Patiala Indian Grill is conveniently located on the corner of W 34th Street, in a small, cozy space that accommodates about 10 to 15 seats. Despite its modest size, it offers flavorful and well-prepared dishes that reflect authentic Indian cuisine. The restaurant also has a larger setup with a bar located at W 35th Street, providing a different dining experience. I visited with a few colleagues from work. I ordered the Hot Lentil Coconut Soup, a creamy and mildly spicy starter, along with a traditional Salted Lassi to cool the palate. For mains, I enjoyed Kurkuri Bhindi (crispy fried ladyfinger), Paneer Chilli (spicy paneer with peppers and onions), Egg Curry, Chilli Garlic Naan, Dal Tadka (spiced lentil gravy), and Zeera Rice (cumin-flavored rice). My colleagues tried Tandoori Murg (bone-in tandoori chicken), Pepper Lamb, Sweet Chilli Chicken, and Chicken Curry. All dishes were authentic, thoroughly cooked, and tailored to Indian taste preferences. You can request your preferred spice level to suit your palate. Overall, it’s a good option to consider for flavorful Indian cuisine in the area.

I would start with off with quite possibly the best but instead I’m gonna be brutally honest and say it is the best Indian food I have had and I’ve had Indian on multiple continents and even in India. Mango lassi, Butter chicken, garlic naan, and the most flavorful rice. Don’t miss out on this small, but delightful restaurant.

Amazing Indian place. We loved it. Not a tourist trap. The tikka masala and papal panned were some of the best I have ever had. The garlic nan is buttery goodness. Love the ambiance too: tiny and quaint.
